What to Bring to your Tattoo Appointment:

If you’ve ever wondered what to bring to your tattoo appointment to make the day as painless as possible, I’ve got you covered!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Directions & Parking

Most shops, including ours, have a late policy; to avoid having to reschedule your appointment, make sure you’re on time!

Sometimes, finding the shop for the first time can be difficult. Especially because we operate by appointment only, we don’t have big, flashy signs outside.

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to navigate traffic, find the shop, find parking (parking is on the street only at this location), and pay for parking (pay by the app “HotSpot” or at the meter - parking on the weekends is free).

We can’t budge on our late policy as we are typically booked back to back, so pretty please plan ahead!

Snacks

Always eat (ideally an hour) before your tattoo appointments! It helps to keep you from being lightheaded or ending up on the floor. (It’s as clean as it can be, but you don’t wanna be down there.)

Tattoo appointments can take awhile, so bring a few snacks to keep on hand. Things with a boost of protein are your best bet (think: jerky, veggies, cheese, etc.)

Worst case scenario, we try to always keep the shop stocked with an assortment of candies for your sweet tooth, your nerves, and your blood sugar needs.

Clothing & Layers

Please wear/bring appropriate clothing for the area that is being tattooed, and possibly one’s that you won’t mind getting stained!

For example, if you are getting a sternum tattoo, a button down shirt is a good option, whereas if you’re getting a rib tattoo, a bikini top may be more suitable.

Also, it may be beneficial to bring layers; bodies are weird. As you’re being tattooed, you may get more hot / colder than normal & we want you to be as comfortable as possible.

If you’re unsure what to wear, please reach out and ask your artist prior to your tattoo appointment.

Headphones / Charger

This one’s self-explanatory. Even if you don’t use it, it’s better to be over prepared. Although, we’ll share any extras of anything we have, we may not have ones that are compatible.

Photo ID

Please bring a copy of government issued photo ID.

If you are under 18, a copy of your ID as well as parental ID will be necessary.

Medication Information

Ideally, if you’re on any medication, reach out to your artist prior to booking your appointment. There are certain medications that may affect the healing process of your tattoo.

For more information on this, please reach out to your doctor and your artist, and check out our FAQ page!

Payments

Every studio is different. At TBP, we prefer cash, but we accept e-transfer and debit/credit card payments. Because we have to pay the big bad overhead that comes along with debit/credit card payments, there are extra fees included in that form of payment. Please plan ahead and calculate taxes (13% in Ontario) and fees.

Tips are not necessary, but are always appreciated beyond words! Tips can be monetary, but they can also come in other unconventional forms; Ceci’s favorites are coffee, KaTea’s, plants, anything homemade, and food!

Books & Plants

As you know, TBP is a not-so-typical tattoo shop; we LOVE the uncommon quirks of our space and clientele. We have a free library & a free plant swap station, so if you have any extra books or plants/plant cuttings you’d like to share or swap out, feel free to bring them with you!

For more information on how our library and plant swap stations work, check out our “What Makes Us TBP” page!

What NOT to Bring:

Pets - As much as we love our furry friends, they’ve gotta wait at home; we promise that you can show them after!

Kids - We ask that anyone under the age of 16 wait until they’re of-age to come hang with us at the shop.

Extra Guests - We try our best to keep our environment as stress-free as possible due to the nature of our services. Please come alone to your appointment unless otherwise pre-approved.

Drugs / Alcohol - Just don’t do it; not before the appointment, and definitely not in the shop.

Numbing Cream - Please reach out to your artist for recommendations prior to your appointment. If numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to the appointment without artist approval, your deposit will be forfeited & your appointment will be rescheduled.

Clothes that you don’t want stained. - Admittedly, tattoos can be a bit messy, and trust me, that ink does not want to leave once it’s grabbed ahold of your clothes. I won’t do it on purpose, but I also can’t promise that it won’t happen, so let’s avoid the heartbreak of ruining nice clothes together.
